Noto has long been a land of deep spiritual significance, home to flourishing temples of many Buddhist traditions. Reflecting on the chirei—the spiritual presence of the land before the advent of Wajima-nuri—this vessel was created with inspiration drawn from the tetsubachi, the iron alms bowls once used by monks in ascetic practice.
Its rounded base, without a foot ring, invites one to cradle the vessel in both hands—evoking a posture of gratitude and prayer toward the blessings of the heavens.
